Course Content

The course is divided into six easy to digest modules which will cover the following:

An Introduction to HR – Human resource departments now include many different elements. They are not just reserved for the recruitment of employees. This first section will introduce you to the different elements that make up a human resource department and its importance in business.

Recruitment and Selection – One of the most significant investments in a business will be the staff that you employ to help you run your company. Therefore, investing in recruitment and selection and having the right processes in place is crucial to the success of your business. You will learn the fundamentals of recruitment and selection and be able to navigate through the process to attract and retain high calibre employees.

New Employees – Once the recruitment and selection process comes to a natural end and you appoint the most suitable candidate, the onboarding process is the next step. In this section you will discover the core components of onboarding and recognise the importance of orientation and making the employee feel welcome and well informed.

Workplace Policy – In every business there are certain policies and procedures that you will need to put in place to ensure that you operate a safe and fair business and you protect the rights of your employees. In this section you will learn about the importance of organisational policy and the different types of policy that you will need to create as part of your HR department.

Employee Feedback – Monitoring performance and productivity is crucial in the workplace if you are to succeed as a business. In this module you will learn about the importance of giving and receiving feedback, the different types of feedback and how to deliver it in the most beneficial way.

Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures – The final module in this course will introduce you to procedures for disciplinary and grievance issues allowing you to effectively manage issues, conduct investigations and take the necessary action to address any problems.

Format

All of our courses are delivered directly online and are self paced so you can study wherever and whenever. The course material is delivered in short sections covering each of the above units in detail and is accompanied with a short test at the end of each to reinforce what you have learned. In order to complete the course successfully you will need to pass 21 out of 30 questions in the end of course assessment.

Duration

This course typically takes approximately 2 – 3 hours to complete although this can vary for each student. Once registered for the course there is no time limit for completion.

Certification

Once you have successfully passed the end of course assessment you can download and print an industry recognised certificate which is endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality.
